Table of Contents
1. Is Dermaroller effective for stretch marks & cellulite?
Micro-needle rollers were originally meant to solve skin problem on the face. But beauty clinics and existing users have tested it on other body parts and skin problems as well.
Derma rolling is reported to be effective in improving stretch marks. Stretch marks are similar to scars and deep wrinkles. They are formed by the loss of collagen and skin elasticity.
Derma rolling acne scars can trigger the production of new collagen and elastin as well as the thickening of your epidermis in several treatments, but you shouldn’t expect immediate results. The desirable needle size for the effective treatment of stretch marks is 1.0 mm and above. 0.5mm is also effective, but you will need more treatments.
Is it effective for cellulite? There is no research done on cellulite. Many studies are performed on wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. Dermal rolling can help improve the appearance of your cellulite, but you shouldn’t expect drastic results. Many sellers will hate me for saying this.
I personally think a healthy low carbohydrate diet and a high intensity excercise regimen is much more effective.
2. What is Dermaroller (Dermal Roller) CE Approval?
3. What creams can I use after the treatment?
Some clinics and patients use Vitamin C or collagen serums after the treatment. They are said to enhance results. Many experts also suggest the application of antibacterial cream after treatment to prevent risks of infection and speed up recovery.
Important Note: all topical products MUST NOT contain irritating, toxic and comedogenic (clog clogging) ingredients.
4. Is it painful to use Dermaroller?
Generally, derma rolling is not painful at all, but most users have experienced mild pricking sensations. The longer the needle length, the more intense the sensation. Additionally, you can apply numbing cream before treatment to eliminate any pain.
5. Does it make your skin bleed?
There will be a slight bleeding because you are puncturing your skin with needles. This can also be the result of applying too much pressure when derma rolling. DO NOT PANIC! Bleeding is very common when using a dermaroller. You should always apply light to moderate pressure.
6. How often should you use the roller?
For 0.5mm roller, you can use it once per month (every 4 to 6 weeks) or once per week ONLY if your skin can tolerate weekly treatment without excessive redness, dryness or irritation.
If you are using a needle length of 0.75mm and above, it is highly recommended waiting 4 to 6 weeks before next treatment. Your skin needs at least 30 days for a full recovery.
7. When should you dispose of the Dermaroller?
If you are treating your body, you might need to replace your roller every 2 to 3 months. Your roller can become dull quicker by penetrating thicker skin on your body.
It is vital to note that sharing a dermaroller is not recommended and can be risky.
8. What needle size should you use?
If you only want to boost the absorption of topical skin care products, then 0.25 mm, 0.3 mm or even 0.5mm needle size is recommended.
If you want to treat shallow imperfections and stimulate collagen production on a “monthly basis”, then 0.5mm roller is an ideal choice for you.
If you are treating “moderate to deep” scars, wrinkles and stretch marks on the face, then 0.75 mm – 1.0 mm size is preferred.
Needle length with 1.5 mm and above should be avoided! They are designed for the body areas or for professional usage.
Important Note: Improper use of 1.5 mm – 3.0 mm needles on your face can undesirable side effects on your skin. AVOID THEM unless you are a trained professional.
